The first is built around the checkout: deposits, hourly and daily rates, and blackout dates. RentalFlow is built around the van: drop-off and pickup addresses, a service area check and a daily delivery list. I build RentalFlow. Choose Rental Booking & Deposits if customers pick items up from you or you ship them, and you need a security deposit, hourly bookings or your own rental rates. Choose RentalFlow if you deliver and collect rentals yourself and want one $39 a month plan with no product limit.

It depends on how the rental gets to the customer. Pick RentalFlow if you drive rentals out and pick them up again: it takes both addresses, checks your service area and gives you a daily list of drop-offs and pickups, for $39 a month with no product limit. Up to 10 rental products, Rental Booking & Deposits costs less. Past 10, RentalFlow costs $10 a month less than Professional. A moving box store that sells 10, 25 and 50 box packages as separate products can pass 10 products quickly. On RentalFlow those packages can share one stock pool, so they all draw from the same count of boxes.
Where RentalFlow wins
Built for local delivery. The booking form asks for a drop-off address, a pickup address, the unit number and how many flights of stairs. The dashboard shows today's deliveries and pickups with unit counts. The Rental Booking & Deposits listing does not mention delivery.
Service area check. RentalFlow checks the customer's US ZIP or Canadian postal code against the area you deliver to, before they check out.
Returns you confirm. When items come back you enter how many returned, and flag any that are damaged, lost or late. You can keep items booked until you confirm the return, and RentalFlow keeps its own rental stock count, so your Shopify stock numbers never change.
One price at any size. $39 a month or $390 a year covers unlimited products, bookings and staff.
Where Rental Booking & Deposits wins
Deposits at checkout. It lists automatic security deposits at checkout. RentalFlow has no deposits. Customers pay the Shopify product price, and you would need a separate deposit setup. Its listing does not say whether the deposit is a hold on the card or a charge that you refund later, so ask the developer before you rely on it for expensive items.
Hourly bookings and rental rates. It lists daily, multi-day and hourly calendars, daily and weekly rate logic, and custom pricing rules on Professional. RentalFlow books by date and charges the product price.
Blackout dates. You can close dates on its calendar. RentalFlow has no blackout dates.
A free plan. One rental product is free, which is enough to test whether rentals sell in your store.
Hands-on developer. Both reviews on its listing (April and May 2026) praise the setup help and the developer making changes for their store. It has the Built for Shopify badge. Two reviews is still a small sample.
Who should choose which?
Choose RentalFlow if you rent moving boxes, party gear or equipment in your area, you drop it off and pick it up with your own vehicle, and you want the day's runs in one list.
Choose Rental Booking & Deposits if customers collect from you or you ship, you rent high-value items like cameras or designer clothes that need a deposit, or you rent by the hour.
